Rosé wine makes a good sangria because it's bright, crisp, and naturally fruity, but not too sweet. It makes a perfect backdrop for tropical flavors like juicy pineapple and fresh citrus. The best thing about sangria is that you can make it however you like it best. This particular recipe welcomes all kinds of tropical fruit! Try adding some strawberries, mango, kiwi, peaches, or grapes and see how you like it. Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what tastes good to you. Just try to choose fruit that's firm enough to hold its shape after soaking in the wine.

I like to do both. As the sangria chills, the fruit releases its flavors into the wine, and it soaks up the wine in return. Whenever you serve a class, spoon some of the fruit pieces over too. Your guests will love it!

Plan on chilling your sangria for at least two hours before serving. Two hours is enough time for the flavors to meld and still taste super fresh. If you have the time, three to four hours is even better.

Enjoy your rosé sangria within two days of making it. The flavors continue to develop overnight, but after a couple days the fruit will start to break down. Store your pitcher covered in the refrigerator. If you added sparkling water or club soda, expect the bubbles to be gone the next day.

For this sangria recipe, the rosé I prefer is dry, bright, and fruity. Refreshing and not too sweet. There are so many wonderful options available, and you definitely don’t need an expensive bottle. Rosés from Provence are always good, but California and Washington producers also make good rosés that work for sangria. The wine is mixed with fruit and other ingredients, so you ultimately want something clean and easy to drink. As a general rule, avoid heavily oaked and complex flavors when you’re choosing your sangria wine.
