Instructions

  • Take an inventory before you shop. Check your pantry and check off any items you already have in stock before you head to the store. And cross off any items that don't align with your dietary preferences. Be sure to throw away any expired items!
  • You don't have to buy everything at once. Focus on your favorites and consider adding one or two new ingredients every month or two.
  • Look for sales. When items go on sale, especially canned goods, it is a great time to stock up.
  • Buy in bulk. If you know what you like to use, don't be afraid to buy ingredients in bulk. It's a great way to save money and ensure you always have what you need on hand.
  • Only buy what you need. If there are things on the list you know you won't use, you don't need to buy it.
  • Have unopened items you don't need? Call your local food pantry to see what they need and whether you can donate any unopened, unexpired items.
